The Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR program launched the Be an ENERGY STAR Video Challenge in April, encouraging young Americans to pick up their cameras and document the actions they are taking in their home, school, workplace, and community to save energy, save money, and protect our environment. EPA received 65 submissions through YouTube. The Boys and Girls Club of Benton County Torch Club submitted their Energy Zappersproduction. The public picked their favorite videos by voting on Facebook – 499 votes were cast. All four BGCA-submitted videos ranked in the top 15 vote-getters, and three were in the top 10.
Energy Zappers received 29 votes, average ranking of 3.72 stars, I’m an ENERGY STAR received, 15 votes, average ranking of 3.4 stars Change the World received 14 votes, average ranking of 2.4 stars Twig and Eco received 11 votes, average ranking of 3.7 stars. On October 25, EPA released a compilation video showcasing the top entries. The final video featured video footage from the Boys and Girls Club of Benton County.
