May is National Bike Month. To promote safe bicycle riding Shaun Best was at the McKinney Unit on Friday May 9th to speak to the kids about the importance of wearing a helmet. Shaun knows the importance of wearing a helmet first-hand. When he was a boy his mother got him a three-wheeler to ride for fun, but he didn’t have a helmet. As he was riding one day a car veered off the road and hit him. Shaun was rushed to the hospital in Pine Bluff where he was treated for severe head trauma. He would stay In a coma for three months. The effects of Shaun’s injury still impact him to this day. For this reason, Shaun is devoting his life to warn others of the dangers of not wearing a helmet.
