On October 18th, some 7,500 sites around the country will celebrate Lights on After School to send the message that we want to keep the lights on and the doors open at after school programs. Lights On Afterschool is an opportunity to draw attention to the 15 million children that have no safe, enriching, educational activities available to them after the school day ends.
This year for Lights On Afterschool children from the Boys and Girls Club will color light bulbs and hang them around each facility for the week. Club children will write letters to Arkansas leaders about why their after school program is important to them. The letters and light bulbs will then be mailed to local leaders.
