The Boys & Girls Club of Benton County is pleased to announce that it has been selected by the Bank of America to receive a grant for the Academic Support program. The grant of 3,000 will provide support for the Summer Learning Program that prevents summer learning loss for disadvantaged children, after school homework assistance to help all kids keep-up with their assigned work, mentoring services for youth who are at high risk for dropping out of school, tutoring services for youth who may be behind in a subject, and programs that prepare older youth for postsecondary education. The funds, along with other local and regional support, help the children of Benton County be successful in school. Boys & Girls Club of Benton County kids report being more committed to school at a significantly higher rate than their Benton County peers. Of children who have been suspended from school, there is a reduction in suspensions of 60.2% after joining the Club. Since 2009, 99.4% of Club kids have passed to their next grade on time. Chief Professional Officer, Jacob Hutson said “This is the fifth year Bank of America has provided support and we are proud to be their partner in the academic success of local children.”
