The school lunch program may be an adequate safety-net for children when school is in session, but what happens to these children when school is out during the summer? A $20,000 grant from Tyson Foods will enable 200 children from economically disadvantaged families to enroll in the Boys & Girls Club of Benton County for the summer programs. Enrollment in the Boys & Girls Club of Benton County will ensure that these children receive at least two nutritious meals and a nutritious snack each week day. Good nutrition starts with a good breakfast. Each enrolled child will start the day with a breakfast that meets Federal National School Lunch Program nutrition guidelines. Each child will also receive a nutritious lunch and an afternoon snack. Hungry children will receive thousands of meals and snacks during the summer months.
