ThinkFirst, a national injury prevention organization, came to the Carl & Alleen McKinney Unit on Tuesday, October 15th to teach the kids the importance of wearing a helmet while riding a bike or scooter. The kids watched a safety presentation. To give vision to the message and then the ThinkFirst volunteers dropped a cantaloupe drop to demonstrate what could happen to a brain in a crash without a helmet. All participating kids received free bike helmets. Each helmet was custom fitted to the kids’ heads by a volunteer. A local TV station and photographer were there to publicize the event. Thank You ThinkFirst!
