On July 26th Boys and Girls Club of Benton County hosted a sleepover for 20 girls that were participating in the SMART Girls program this summer. SMART Girls is a gender-specific character and self-esteem program to help young ladies overcome peer pressure and develop goals for their future. The event was funded by a grant from the Unilever Corporation. The girls played active games throughout the night that demonstrated fun ways to stay healthy and fit. They created a self-esteem collage of pictures describing who they are and did blind makeovers where a “blind” girl tried their best to do the makeup of the another girl! The group was the first to be initiated into the SMART Girls Sorority. The girls recited the Sorority pledge to sisterhood and make a commitment to up hold the SMART Girls morals and values that they have learned throughout the Smart Girls program. The Sorority membership is for life and new members will be added with each SMART Girls Program. We’d like to thank Unilever who enabled this wonderful event.
