Since the beginning of October the Bella Vista Unit has initiated a flag football program. Team are made-up of boys and girls in first through fourth grade. The teams practice together on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00pm until dark. Watching one of these practices you see a certain level of excitement. If the players had it their way, they would practice every day past dark. The vast majority of the parents and club members have shown their enthusiasm and appreciation for this new opportunity. Stephanie Bolin, a long time club and foster parent said, “You guys don’t understand what providing this opportunity means to us as a family. Caring for nine children, it’s virtually impossible for all of my kids to be involved in regular, normal organized sports…” Several of our flag football players’ parents find themselves in a similar situation, which is why we have scheduled flag football during regular club hours. We strive to provide every possible opportunity to our club members, whatever their background or current situation may be. The newly created flag football program was made possible by funding from Buffalo Wild Wings and extends our mission sports programming to enable and inspire youth to realize their full potential in a safe and nurturing environment – especially those who most need us.
of our club members report finding valuable adult connections at the club.
