On Wednesday, July 17th, 2013 the Boys and Girls Club of Benton County Keystone Clubs had the opportunity to travel to Norman, Oklahoma to tour the campus of the University of Oklahoma. The teens and staff left at 5:00 AM to make the four-hour journey. Upon arrival, they were given a 2.5 hour interactive tour of the campus. They visited the largest library in the state of Oklahoma which is home to over five million books, They experienced campus spirit visiting Memorial Stadium, the epicenter of Sooner football, and they learned about the rich history of the OU campus. Members received information from OU staff about the cost of tuition and room and board and the availability of financial aid. At the end of the tour the teens left with an excitement about post-secondary education and were presented with an OU T-shirt. On the journey home all were ‘abuzz’ as they talked their future and potential career paths. Keystone Club is a service learning character and leadership program for youth ages 14-18.
